    Sound cutting out

I think I've fixed the problem. I bypassed the TV and connected the satellite receiver directly to the audio receiver and am no longer having the issue. Does anyone know what could have been causing this? I understand it must have been the TV but am still curious as to why it was happening...

Best way to connect audio receiver?

I seem to have found the answer to my problem. I clicked on the Blue Jeans banner at the top of the discussion forums home and voila, the BJC Optical Digital Audio Cable (built with Mitsubishi ESKA fiber.) Inexpensive, more durable than glass optical AND if I'm not mistaken the article said...

Best way to connect audio receiver?

Ok. You've answered my question and hit on something I was already assuming. I figured connecting the satellite receiver directly to the audio receiver would be the lesser of two evils for the time being for the same reasons you stated, but I wanted to be sure. When I said coax I didn't...

Best way to connect audio receiver?

There are two ways possible to connect the audio from my satellite receiver to my audio receiver. I can either connect the two directly or connect the satellite receiver to my TV (CRT) and my TV to my audio receiver. Pros and cons of each? Is it even going to make a difference? P.S. I'm...

    Sound cutting out

Ok....so I was just watching a movie and every time there is low volume from the movie the speakers seem to cut out completely. If someone is speaking there seems to be no problems and also when the score (soundtrack) is at a volume similar to that of the speech....but when there is little audio...

    Stupid question about speaker angles

I'm unfortunately in a square room (12'4"x12'6") but until my roommate moves out i'm stuck there so i'd like to make the best of what I have and set up my speakers as well as possible. So my question is how do you measure the speaker angle? The documentation that came with my unit suggests...

    RCA or digital coax?

I found a cable and I'm not sure if it's coax or an rca video cable. Is there a way for me to test and be sure, apart from hooking it up and listening?

USB mass storage device not recognized by dvd player

Is there a way to reformat the drive without having to temporarily transfer the data to another device? I have quite a bit of music and nothing large enough to store it while I reformat the drive. Oh and yeah and.....der da der to myself. Of course I meant NTFS rather than NTSC.

USB mass storage device not recognized by dvd player

I recently bought a bluray that is supposed to be able to recognize and play files from a USB hard drive. I've hooked up my 500G seagate drive and nothing happens apart from the drive powering up. I believe the instructions said that the player would read both NTSC and FAT32. Any Ideas...

How to determine best speaker placement for the room I'm in

I went with the second option because I don't have an outlet along the back wall. Huge improvement. Thank you.

How to determine best speaker placement for the room I'm in

I'm not sure what "corner loading" exactly refers to but I have extensive experience with aiming component speakers in car audio and understand that placing it so close to that wall is going to cause the sound waves to bounce off in "unintended" directions. To counteract this I have angled the...

How to determine best speaker placement for the room I'm in

Funny that you say that. I had already created one and was ready to post it but apparently I had to have a total of at least 5 posts before I was allowed to post any images or hyperlinks. But I have now passed that limit and here is the picture. Forgive the crudeness. I made it in mspaint...

What kind of dvd player should I get and how should I connect it?

I have a ps3 hooked via hdmi to my hi def upstairs. this is my basement living room where I don't spend a lot of time which is why I'm not dumping a ton of money into it. At the moment I'm most concerned about getting accurate 5.1 out of my receiver. And it seems the general consensus has...

How to determine best speaker placement for the room I'm in

I was wondering if there was a dvd available that helps you determine the best speaker placement for the room your in. I wasted 10 bucks on a setup dvd that doesn't help with much more than making sure your speakers are hooked up correctly to the receiver, i.e. phase and channel which is really...

What kind of dvd player should I get and how should I connect it?

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the replies. I was actually unaware that blu ray players also played dvds. Now that I know that I'll most likely get bluray just so I won't have to buy it later when it becomes the main form of digital media. My tv isn't even worth mentioning. I doubt i'll...

What kind of dvd player should I get and how should I connect it?

Thank you penpitt. That dvd player is right in my price range. I still need to know whether or not it is worth switching to coax for audio or if the rca's I'm currently using are going to provide the same surround quality. I've heard that rca's only provide one channel for the rear speakers...

What kind of dvd player should I get and how should I connect it?

Hello there, my name is Mike and I'd like to say that I'm super excited that I've stumbled upon this site! I had a quick question about my what future purchases I need to make to put a smile on my face. My old dvd player went out so I decided to spend the money I was going to spend on a...
