    Sudden System Volume Increase

I have gone over the settings, and there has been no change, but I will go over them again with more detail. No one else uses the system. So this doesn't sound like the result of an internal component, such as a resistor or capacitor, going out of spec.? Thanks for the replies.

    Sudden System Volume Increase

Any ideas about what could cause a sudden (one day it wasn't there, the next it was), permanent, undistorted and significant volume increase in an audio system? Simply, the system is much louder at the previous setting, though not distorted, and the previous reference level is now way too loud...

    placing speakers on the carpet?

I know this an epically delayed response, but I think I read about it in a Mapleshade catalog. They were selling some pretty expensive custom maple blocks though.

    Subwoofer torture movies?

One of the most bass insane discs out there is a DVD! The August 2000 release of The Haunting (1999) DTS version. The one with the DTS Surround Sound banner at the top of the case artwork. It may be a little difficult to find. Careful or you may have some chuffing.:D

    placing speakers on the carpet?

I'd like to hear thoughts on placing speakers on hardwood blocks, such as butcher blocks/cutting boards on carpet. I read that carpet is the least preferred for speaker placement. Good for room acoustics, but not speaker placement.

Literary Transgressions of the Audio Community

I have been reading those terms in audio journals and magazines for decades and have been glazing-over for that same amount of time. I keep it simple (in my head anyway) with the term "sounds good'. There have been times, though, where I heard a setup at an audio show that "sounds real good"...

Which AV Products Should Come Back?

I recently listened to some 8-track tapes after getting my ancient player out again, and, uhhhh, no! No need, not even nostalgia, for them to see the light of day again - lol. Also, I couldn't help to think how embarrassed Ray Dolby would probably be to see his name on that cash grab, idiot...

4k Blu-ray Discs and Players to Arrive 2015 - An Analysis

That's what I'm hearing. Unbelievable. I'm not saying never, but an upgrade in 5 years (probably to projector/screen) would be the earliest.

4k Blu-ray Discs and Players to Arrive 2015 - An Analysis

I don't have $10,000 laying around, and I bet the majority don't either. That's a lot of upgrading at one time. Me and my Kuro are doing just fine, and the BD library is pretty full; no problem here. "There's no stopping 4K" but I bet I can wait it out.

    Multiple Side Wall Surround Speakers

My room is 26 feet long, and wanted better side surround for back row. 1st two rows are good with present single L/R surrounds, not so good for back row.

    Multiple Side Wall Surround Speakers

Thanks! Yes, I am now 5.1, but I am planning to go to an Atmos setup (11.2.4 channels), but wanted to add 2 more side surrounds. Thanks again for the advice.

    Multiple Side Wall Surround Speakers

If I want to add more side wall surround speakers to the surround L/R channels, what is the best way to do it? Could it be too taxing for the amp to just wire the extra speaker to each channel or would it be better to add a signal splitter and additional amp? Thanks for any suggestions.

5 Reasons Dolby Atmos May Be DOA

The fact that I can't go a reasonable distance and hear a movie in Atmos ( I have 9! separate theater locations within a 30 minute drive, and none have Atmos), the closest Atmos theater is 3 hours away, is a major sticking point for me.. Why are theaters not installing Atmos? This, to me, is...

Can you hear a difference in Sound between Audio Amplifiers?

I'm surprised to read a thread at this website asking me what I hear. Usually what one hears, if so expressed in one of your forums, is treated as a hallucination on the hearer's part; unless backed up by rigid double blind testing. So I am in agreement that the question is not specific enough...

The 1570 doesn't upconvert to 196kHz, does it? I'll stick with my 971 and Cambridge Audio DACMagic.

Bob Carver bought by Emotiva! OK, not the man...the LLC

This is Bob Carver's third company, I believe. The other two being Carver Corp. and Sunfire. I am very intrigued by this development. I have been a Bob Carver fan for over thirty years and still use his 1995 Sunfire Cinema Grand in my HT setup. I have also been keenly aware of Emotiva lately and...
