Compact, “tight” punchy sub for JBL 530s?

Looking to pair my JBL Stufio 530s and Denon S960 AVR with a relatively small subwoofer that delivers punchy bass. Budget is up to $500. I have a small child so I have to do my best setting this up in the living room where it’ll look unassuming and not be this monolithic thing he’ll want to play on.

Looking for a center channel to add to my JBL Studio 530 speakers

I have JBL 530 speakers and a Denon S960 AVR. I'd like to add a center channel to help out with dialogue but the Studio 520 is just too big for my tv console area. What would be a good, sleek center channel that would do the job nicely without being jarring paired up with the 530s? Thank you!

Have 2.1. Any good reason for 3.1?

Now that I'm settling in with my JBL Studio 530 front speakers and an SVS subwoofer, is there an argument to be made to add just a center channel? Would the center channel just be primarily for dialogue enhancement during movies and games? Is there any benefit to music with a front channel?

Got an AVR, chose my speakers. Help me make it sound good!

Ok, just got my JBL Studio 530s hooked up. Initially, they don't sound like enormously better than the $80 Micca's...but anyway, I ran the initial speaker setup on the receiver and it auto-set the front speakers to Large which I changed to small. It also set them as full range but I changed the...

Got an AVR, chose my speakers. Help me make it sound good!

Back with some numbers. Levels: Front L is - 2.5db Front R is -3.0db Sub is -12.0db Subwoofer mode is LFE and LPF for LFE is 120hz Front crossovers were set to 110Hz by Audessey. Keep in mind I'm using $80 Micca bookshelf speakers until the Studio 530s come. I changed that setting to 80hz...

Got an AVR, chose my speakers. Help me make it sound good!

So I'll set the Crossover knob on the back of the sub to "Direct" and when you say gain you mean volume? The volume control is digital only, and goes from 1-80.

Got an AVR, chose my speakers. Help me make it sound good!

Thanks! Some of that makes sense but I'll have to take a closer look at the back of my sub when I get home. Also, what about the phase setting on it? I know there are four options. You wouldn't happen to be in Atlanta, would you?

Got an AVR, chose my speakers. Help me make it sound good!

With my JBL Studio 530s on the way, I figure it's time to get down to asking how I should properly setup my system to ensure I'm getting the best sound possible. I now have a Marantz SR6008 receiver (which I'm still trying to get my head around, regarding Audessey and various settings like...

    FS: Ohm MicroWalsh Tall speakers

Ohm Micro Walsh Talls, in black finish. I'm in Atlanta; I could probably work out shipping for them, which would be around $100 for how large these things are, but I could potentially pay half or all depending on things. In perfect condition, just deciding to move to IEMs and a smaller home...

Simplifying my setup: what receiver should I get?

If I did want to upgrade the setup later, would something like pre-outs to a Marantz PM6005 make sense? The 1403 would handle the video components/switching and the amp of the 6005 would be the primary driver of the sound? Does this make sense or am I totally not understanding how this stuff...

Simplifying my setup: what receiver should I get?

So I pulled the trigger and bought the Marantz for $300 from Amazon Warehouse. Threw in the Yamaha Bluetooth/coax adapter too. Of course, I'm immediately second guessing myself and wondering if I should've gone with the Yamaha as301 integrated amp, since I'm only doing 2.1 anyway. I guess I...

Simplifying my setup: what receiver should I get?

Yeah, overkill for sure. I'm going to spend several hundred in the next year for better bookshelf speakers to replace them. That said, would it even matter if I bought the Denon (with all the great features) or the Marantz (the one that's supposed to sound best) using speakers under $1000?

Simplifying my setup: what receiver should I get?

42x. It really messed me up hearing them, driven by the little Lepai LP2020A. It made me question whether I had been doing something totally wrong with my Nova and Ohm, or if it really is just the room/placement. Whichever receiver I go with, I'm going to try it out with the Ohms, for sure...

Simplifying my setup: what receiver should I get?

What about the Marantz NR1403? I feel like it's now down to that or the b stock Denon S700. If I go with Denon, do I buy the Amazon Warehouse b-stock or the "Refurbished" option on the main page? As for the Ohm Walshes...I never felt like they sounded that great to me! If I were to be totally...

Simplifying my setup: what receiver should I get?

So between the Yamaha RX V477 at $350, the Yamaha RX V675 at $350, Yamaha A-S301 at $350 and Yamaha R-N301 at $300, how the heck do I choose?!?! If the sound quality of the N301 and S301 are going to be exactly the same as the 477 and 675, but the 477 and 675 have all of these additional...

Simplifying my setup: what receiver should I get?

I have to say, I've been scared off of buying an Onkyo receiver after a day of researching this stuff. It just seems like a crapshoot and if it dies after a year I'd be screwed. How do you feel about the Yamaha RX V675 for $350 vs. the ones you mentioned? Or the Marantz NR1403 and Yamaha RX-V477?

Simplifying my setup: what receiver should I get?

I'm going down to a simple bookshelf speaker/subwoofer setup in my living room after a Peachtree Nova/Ohm Walsh setup for years. I'm looking to spend around $350 on an amp/receiver and have the following requirements: Inputs for- TV PS4 Wii U Turntable Macbook using Audirvana Not really...
