    Paradigm Signature S8's

Well the search function came through for me, I was merely guessing. Just do an advanced search and with his username, type in different speaker manufacturer's, and you'll see outside of B&W, Behringer & Harman/Infinity/Toole they all suck. Based on never hearing them but reading some...

    Paradigm Signature S8's

So in other words you are in the process of selling those dynaudio's and picking up some B&W's? Since, according to him, the dynaudio's are surely inferior at the same price point.

Should I go with DIY or KEF?

I'd put the statement center way above the KEF's. I'm sure the KEF's are well worth their retail/big box store price of $650ish. If you were looking in a retail store for a center channel with the drivers & crossover of the statements I think you'd need to spend $2000-2500. Maybe more...

    Polk Monitor 50 vs R50

What's sub and crossover frequency are you using? Neither of these speakers are bass hogs. The difference between the R50's and Monitor 50's is minimal.

    Paradigm Signature S8's

wmax - you've posted quite often that you've conducted various amounts of research with double blind listening, I'm curious where your research was published so I might be able to read it. Also, I know there was a thread a while back where you were "rebuilding" someone's Infinity Primus...

    Budget Bookshelf Speaker Shootout 2009

A user on the AVS forums had a mini budget bookshelf GTG recently and that same Yamaha NS-6490 either won or was one of the top couple performers. Odd design but obviously a good performer at the pricepoint.

Polk Audio TSI100: What's Your Opinion?

Apple lossless. 320 kbps isn't bad 2nd choice. Lots of people have opinions on this, this is mine :)

    Best $750 stand mount/ bookshelf's?

It'll take you an hour to put it together but this gets my vote: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=302-773&scqty=1

Polk Audio TSI100: What's Your Opinion?

Those Polks are a fine speaker for roughly $150 a pair.

Polk Audio TSI100: What's Your Opinion?

The main problem with itunes is that 99% of the people of have it and use it have their music at 128 kbps. Beyond that it's fine IMO.

    Bookshelf speaker shootout

What's your thought on their ability to play loud, for HT and rock music (eagles, foo fighters, metallica, alice n chains, etc..) use in a 15x20 living room? I'm looking to build a front 3 for a 60% HT and 40% music system and was looking at these and the dayton 722 Dr.K design. I liked that...

    Build them yourself?

I've been thinking of answers to these questions since I read your post yesterday and I haven't come up with any yet. Problem is, I tend to enjoy a variety of speakers. Perhaps I haven't spent enough time with high end stuff to really appreciate the nuances. I have some low end Polks...

    Build them yourself?

First off thanks for the reply. You and Spkr-bldr are probably my favorite 2 posters on the board, a wealth of knowledge and tons of practical application experience to back it up. You and Spkr-bldr both seemed a little luke-warm on the ZR71 (didn't say it was a poor choice, but also...

    Build them yourself?

What do you think of the ZR71? I'm sure the ZRT is a great-great speaker, but at $1k for just the parts and no enclosure that is a pretty steep entry fee into DIY. I was eyeballing the ZR71 which appears to be a similar design (2 way 7" x 1") with cheaper components (half the price). For...

    Build them yourself?

stinkfist, The thread got off topic a bit, I'm pretty sure the B&W 802D's at $12k a pair is irrelevant to your situation. Look at DIY this way: if you want to just buy parts and stick them together you almost certainly are going to end up with piles of junk parts and crappy sounding...

Going from Klipsch to Paradigm Question

I'm curious... could you describe in a little more detail how the Paradigms are more smooth on music such as Linkin Park? Perhaps you could reference a track or two and how the reproduction differs from speaker to speaker.

    Help Me Choose: CBM-170 SE's or RC-10's?

    +1 I agree with mazer.

    Build them yourself?

The great thing about DIY is if you feel that cabinet resonance is very-very high on your priority list you can certainly design that into your build project. Otherwise if you are like 99.99% of the population you can go with a more conventional cabinet design :D

    Build them yourself?

I don't want to name names because certainly someone will be offended and a flame war of justifying what people buy will begin. When you factor in profit for the speaker company, mark-up so the audio shop guy can stay in business, construction/craftsmanship time of nice cabinets, salaries for...

    Build them yourself?

http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthread.php4?t=27222 For $700ish in parts these would compare to $3k speakers.
