I actually have this. I bought it 5 years ago at BB. I paid a little over $300. I think there was some sort of sale going on at the time. But I don't think the regular price was over $600.. It blows my mind that it's over 6 bills right now. Ridiculous..

I've had that happen with my Yamaha 3060, where for some reason when I switch to Pure Direct I don't get any sound. Turning the unit off and back on, did the trick for me. Or maybe you need to unplug the unit for a bit.

I have the Yamaha 3060. My receiver does not auto update. If there is a new update available, you will see it when you go into the set-up menu. But you can choose to ignore it. The 3060 never auto updated. Don't know if something changed with the 3080..
