Take it back, since it's that new, and get a new one. There's no way I'd pay that much for a shop repaired receiver. I had that happen with a tv once. The salesman at the store told me who did their repairs. I said, "No way! I'm not buying a repaired tv. I bought a new tv! Get me the manager!"...

You should be ok, as long as you don't listen at very high volumes, for a long period of time............... :)

Double check and make sure your speakers are wired in phase. (In case you don't know): On your speaker wire leads, one of them may have a thin white line? If the lead with the white line on it, is hooked to the positive side of the input, on the receiver, it should also be on the positive side...

A couple people from another forum, called Oppo and asked them, and Oppo says they DO upconvert over component. Straight from the horses mouth.........Call them yourself and ask, if you want to hear it for sure. Don't take my word. I'm passing on what someone else said.

Yes.........for long runs like that, you want to go larger, not smaller. For that kind of run (50'-60'), you'll want to use at least a 14 ga. wire, but 12 ga. would be even better. You can get good, reasonably price speaker wire, at Lowe's or Home Depot, on 100' spools. Good luck!

Yes, for those of us with dvd-a capable players. But most people don't have universal players, and will listen to the DD or DTS tracks. Then, there's some people that listen to music, only in stereo...... :)
