Welfare for the rich - $700 billion bailout

I am not defending Pelosi, but come on: if anyone actually changed their vote because one of their fellow talking heads said something "that hurt their feelings" right before the vote, then they are in the wrong occupation...

    Zeppelin mothership

Has anyone got this and checked out the CD in a dedicated 2ch setup? How is the audio quality? It's always made me sad that most of my Zepp discs are pretty poor as far as recordings go.

One other thing, if you need a WAF, check out the Icon-W series. Very pretty.

    Question on Klipsch ICON Speakers

Obviously I'm a Klipsch fan... If you can afford the Palladium line, they are among the best out there. If not, the reference or heritage line will last you a lifetime and outperform a lot of other things in the price range. Some people find horn dynamics ("live music" sound) fatiguing, but...

Welfare for the rich - $700 billion bailout

Nice post. You realize, of course, that the free market will take the blame, not the gov't meddling. Not the "too big to fail" doctrine. The repeal of a single securities law from the 1930s will be bloated into "look what deregulation got us" nevermind the thousands of laws still on the books...

Welfare for the rich - $700 billion bailout

Correct! I often refer to them as the Demopublicans, the Rebublocrats, or our "One party system". As long as we can use smoke screen issues to stir up an emotional response in people, we'll have the same Sunday NFL "my team" mentality in our politics.

Welfare for the rich - $700 billion bailout

I think this will "save" home prices, yet also let them go down to what they really need to be. Nominal value remains constant while real value declines to appropriate levels. What I mean is: I believe this bailout/action will have an inflationary effect on our currency. Your $300,000 house...

Congress agrees to terms of bailout

Call your reps and tell them not to vote for it! http://money.cnn.com/2008/09/25/news/economy/deal_reached/index.htm?postversion=2008092513&eref=rss_topstories The "collapse" we are talking about is described nicely in this article: "Both parties and both houses agreed Thursday to a set of...

Things have now gone too far

I didn't complain when they came for my money or my rights, but when they came for my cheerleaders, I joined the revolution: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/football/ncaa/09/23/idaho.cheerleaders.ap/index.html?eref=rss_topstories

PBS Palin qualified for VP Poll

My feelings on Palin are summarized here: http://www.newsweek.com/id/160080/page/1 ... though the author does not spend enough time talking about how hot she is.

    GIK diffusors

I just noticed GIK has a diffusion product. Has anyone here done before/after ETCs using this product? I was considering building some QRDs out of wood using the math in MHA but for $99 (way cheaper than RPG) it might not be worth my time.

*Rant/Idealism - Why can't there be an industry standard for speakers?

The only way to decide on a standard for speakers would be to standardize on A speaker, which the losers wouldn't be too kean on. Very few manufacturers of very few products want to be "Naked on paper" next to their competition-certainly not makers of loudspeakers.

    Fiscal Crisis???

These bailouts are precisely why there are so many homes in foreclosure. I'll have to dig up a great article called "Too big to fail". Essentially, there has been federal legislation for quite some time that encourages mortgage lending to people who may not be able to afford to pay it back...

When do you consider you have a frequency problem?

no. 5: 1) Where in Wisconsin are you roughly? 2) When you speak of the "width" of a Mode or a Null, you are actually talking about a grouping of modes or nulls, right? ergo, a mode at 40hz is not terrible by itself but modes at 38hz, 40hz, 42hz, 44hz, and 50hz would be terrible. Dips...

    Room treatment

I think the rule for a porous absorbing material is that it can only absorb as thick as it is, using 1/4 wavelength. ie: 60hz wave is about 19feet long, 19/4=4.75= you would need something nearly 5 feet thick to absorb a 60hz wave. 20" of absorbing material would get you to the 200hz...
