Towers of Power: A Look at the Best Super Speakers

Yeah I understand your confusion. These speakers represent a very small market segment. As for subs, I've got 2 15" high excursion drivers in each of the LCR's. That's 6 15's across the front. In other words, I don't need no stinkin subs ... for music or Home Theater. :)

Towers of Power: A Look at the Best Super Speakers

I have heard properly setup Danley speakers (SM-60's) in a Home Theater environment and they sounded really good but Danley speakers are not full range and so do not belong in this category.

You're probably right and you can certainly get a very nice sounding speaker for that price. Just not one that will play reference level at 20hz -24khz with ease. I'm just guessing about 24khz cause my hearing drops off at 16khz. ;-)

Towers of Power: A Look at the Best Super Speakers

This response is typical of someone who has never heard a good demonstration of high efficiency full range towers like those included here. Your mention of Revel is ironic as that was my brand of choice and they were wonderful speakers for 2 channel music at reasonable playback levels. The...

How much are you willing to spend for a speaker system?

Although it is possible to do a very good system for less, I chose the $10-20K range. That is where I ended up for a multi-channel, HT focused speaker system. You can spend more, but I believe at that level the room would be where the extra money would be best spent.

    New HT Room

About a year ago I installed some JBL Cinema 8340a's for ATMOS and Auro 3D audio (Top Front, Top Rear). The only other Atmos system I have heard was at a commercial theater and I prefer the ATMOS experience at home. For that matter, all audio sounds better at home. This is an older pic...

Towers of Power: A Look at the Best Super Speakers

Yeah, I'm lucky in that regard but keeping peace in the hood is another good reason for selective high SPL sessions. ;)

Towers of Power: A Look at the Best Super Speakers

Sure, when you own speakers like these there is a temptation (based upon the source material) to go loud. It is very easy to find yourself in reference plus territory as it doesn't sound loud (e.g. strained or distorted). It does require some discipline to keep the volume at reasonable levels...

Towers of Power: A Look at the Best Super Speakers

I have been on this Pro Audio derived train for quite a while now and decided to go to RMAF this past fall to hear the current state of the Audiophile world products. That allowed me to heard demos of virtually every brand you mentioned with the exception of Salk. JTR was there as well with the...

Towers of Power: A Look at the Best Super Speakers

It is good to finally have an article written about some true full range loudspeakers. I grew up listening to my fathers large Klipsch Heresy's and have been chasing the memory of that sound ever since I got serious about audio and home theater 15 years ago. I own three of the least expensive...

    New HT Room

Hey Rick, good to hear from you. The Noesis are really amazing. But don't take my word for it, come and listen for yourself. The latest is I'm selling my JVC and getting a new Sony 3D projector. Finally getting on-board with the 3D thing... :)

    New HT Room

Jeff has added an 8" driver version to the Noesis line. It's the 228-HT and the 12" is the 212HT. The 8" 228 uses a 1" CD/Horn combo vs the 212's 1.4"CD/Horn. I'm interested in hearing that new 8.

    Dog Pictures

I love dogs ... I had posted pics of my Jack Russell Pete but I lost him when I broke up with a woman a couple of years ago. He had a brother and I was able to get him from the same breeder at 18 months old. Best dog I've ever had and he loves hangin with me in the HT ... :)

    New HT Room

Hi westcott, The main review above wasn't done by me, it was another person who received a pair of Noesis for a GTG and then gave the opinions listed in my post. I have LCR Noesis and actually I found I preferred a approx 20 degree toe in due to the 60/40 dispersion pattern. As you know...

The JTR Noesis 212HT-LP LCR's have been in place for several weeks now and I have them dialed in placement wise and in terms of EQ with Audyssey MultEQ-XT32. I watched several movies, lot's of demo clips and quite a bit of music (both HD and standard Redbook CD's). They are without a doubt the...
