Need Help Picking A AV Receiver!!

along with your other post, I would seriously question the weakest link in your setup, the 8" subwoofer. Also, try a factory reset on your 1121 and do a new setup from scratch. Sometimes when you make a series of adjustments, they can fight with each other.

    Pioneer 1121-k

I use Polk Monitor70 towers and a CS2 center with my 1121, but I think changing from your Infinity speakers would be a "lateral move" What do you "not" like about your current speakers ? I would take a serious look at your 8" subwoofer first for possible replacement.....think 12" ;)

Want internet radio on my stereo

Yep, that is a great point....not all sound cards or on-motherboard sound chips are created the same. And not all computers adequately control the amount of stray RF interference generated within the box. That said, Toslink optical will be the best connection to cards that have it, but the...

Want internet radio on my stereo

by far the quickest way to connect your computer to the stereo receiver is to use a 3.5mm stereo plug to red/white RCA male connectors cable. Attach the 3.5mm plug to the headphone jack or the line out jack on the computer sound card and run the cable to an AUX input on the stereo...

Need Advise re: Speaker Type/Placement in Theater Room

try to arrange your speakers setup as close to the recommended Dolby Labs setup as possible Dolby Home Theater Speaker Placement and Setup Guide And yes, with the 2nd couch up against the wall, go with a 5.1 setup, where the surrounds are closer to being "sides" and the true "rear" speakers...

Verizon to Offer Streaming Netflix Alternative?

I think Verizon has also announced recently that they have "nearly completed" their FiOS buildout. So, if you can't get FiOS now, you probably will not in the future. All these new services are a moot issue for those not residing in large population urban areas.

Currently have Sony DA777ES, would Pioneer VSX-1021-K be a downgrade?

the older Sony "ES" and "DB" series receivers were built like tanks and had very good spec's for the day. I'm still using a 15 year old STR-930DB on a secondary HT setup and the DD5.1 still sounds great. I would suggest you take a look at the Pioneer 1121, and sign up for Newegg's "e-Blast"...

Need help figuring out what model these polk's are

forget those speakers, PSW10 sub is not worth considering, other unknown speakers are not worth the risk. go to Newegg.com and signup for their "e-Blast" email sales notices and watch for fabulous sales on Polk Monitor Series II speakers. Consider Monitor60 or Monitor70 towers and a CS2...

    home theatre sound system....

1st suggestion....get the Polk CS2 center for use with the Monitor70's...much better fit and better for the large room. 2nd suggestion...don't get the 5 channel power amp until you have "lived with the system" for a bit. A good a/v receiver will drive the efficient Polk Monitors without much...

    Polk CS10 vs CS20

I took a bunch of reviewers and users at their word and got the CS2 (older sibling of the CS20). Most of the reviews I read where as CS1/CS10 or CS2/CS20 were compared side by side, the larger center was the preferred choice. I'm using mine with Monitor70's and the front 3 are very full range...

First system, opinions on a receiver please.

just an opinion, but I would go with the Yamaha. Very good systems for music, and well built. No real experience with the Pioneer Elite series, their consumer series are OK, the 1121 is really outstanding, I just got one during the fabulous Newegg sale. But all in all, I like the built-in...

Polk Audio Monitor70 Series II Floorstanding Loudspeaker

I have the Monitor70's and a CS2 on one of my systems and I'm very pleased with the "wall of sound" results. Very full and well defined sounding, a great replacement for the 15 year old AR towers I had. I would need to spend a whole lot more money to actually notice improved SQ. I consider...

    Need some help

best I can tell on the web, TX-SV414pro is a stereo receiver, so all you need to do to try it out is hook the pair of speakers to the speaker outputs on the back and set the receiver to FM tuner and see what you get. If you need speaker wire, just get some 16 gauge two conductor wire at any big...
