    Monster Cables... Bad?

They are absolutely worth buying for less than retail, I mean who tf pays retail? But, I could prove to you if you were in Utah, that MC sound soooooo much better than the stock pieces of garbage that came with my rotel gear. So, are they better than stock HELL YES!!! but are they worth the...

    Pricey cables at Radio Shack

It's so funny to me that people bich so much about the price of cables, Would any of you buy a Corvette and have the cheaper tires put on it? I mean if you can afford a bdp, you can afford Monster cables!

    some pics of the system

new pix This is how the new 2ch setup went. I got the cabinet (Kenwood) for $15, and used L brackets with rubber feet to hang the components. Glass keeps the kids out of the gear. All I need now is a basic FM tuner and I'm set. I use the PC most of the time to rock, but the Pioneer cdp sounds a...

AudioSource AMP One: A Low Priced Component Amplifier Suggestion

That AmpOne/A is a very nice sounding piece and loves low impedance loads. The amplifier output stage uses a dual-mono block configuration with toshiba output transistors and a toroidal power supply. If I remember the caps were kinda small in it because of the low profile design. But overall, I...

replacing yammi rx-v870 with HK AVR110

Don't know much about the set-up on those ADC's but helluva good job on the deoxit/cleaner job. I used to have an old AudioControl 101 model. It had the RTA, spectrum and all kinds of options like pink noise generator. Nice to see someone using an eq still! I was always going to buy one of the...

    Thoughts on new system

Yea, those Integra'a are catching some eyes lately. I think it sounds like a killer system! good job on the choices. and BTW why the hell not use the PS3 and spend the dough on a better center channel speaker? People should pay attention to you and your smart purchasing decisions. for real.

    engine interference

I know it's a car audio system, deh! ... ok. The "deck" is the stereo in the dash, the amps are set up for more channels than you have on the deck. You need to first off, disconnect everything. Then go to radioshack or wherever sells audio stuff, obtain 2 qty male to two female splitters...

replacing yammi rx-v870 with HK AVR110

Those old ADC eq's were the best next to audiocontrol. I love the display's on those eq's I kinda miss mine... lol

    engine interference

Does the deck have a subwoofer pre-out? Your config should work... but, does the deck lack front/rear/sub ouputs? what make, model is the deck?

    engine interference

No problem. The resistance test will actually 'test' the system rather than taking it in to a shopto get rap3d on labor fees. You can fix this yourself I'm sure. the rca's never go bad unless they were cheap to begin with. But, the deck itself may have a blown little surface mount fuse inside...

    engine interference

sounds to me like you blew your rca ground. you need to ground the outer shield of the rca connector to the chassis ground. That should eliminate the pulsing sound you are having. you can check with an ohm-meter and see by checking continuity between the chassis of the head unit vs. the ground...

Any experience with Sherwood (non-Newcastle) AVR's?

IMO the Pioneers have more power output, and a bit more serious of a sound. The yamaha will have a more refined laid back sound, maybe not so 'in your face', but may sound less powerfull to a person. The yamaha is probably going to have about the same features, but not quite the edge that the...

    some pics of the system

I deleted them by accident. Sorry :) I will post some updated pics tonight of the new stand and the overall new look. BTW, It's so cool to have someone else interested in your system, no? I love it. For many years (before the internet was so mainstream), I thought I was a strange person for...

    Pioneer has perfected the television

The pioneer Elite plasma's have always been my favorite, because they are sexy and the black's were always blacker than anyone else. I do love the Panny plasma's for the $$ for sure!! great value.

    Custom Power Cord Question

Power cables, hmmmm  I doubt that... but If they were free, I'd run them. $80 is way too steep for me. I could upgrade something else for that money... Just cleaning up the cables and re-routing them in a more realistic manner helped my system... for real. I think it was just ditching...

Any experience with Sherwood (non-Newcastle) AVR's?

pretty bad, I'm sure... but, go with the onkyo, yamaha or denon equivalent. You will not be let down. I used to sell even the Newcastle stuff, and wasn't much impressed. ie. cheap caps, weak, no-name transformers. Very underpowered compared to the pioneer's we had and especially the yamaha I was...
