congrats on a successful tweak! I'd like to add that if you're looking into spending $200 on a two channel amp, you should also consider an Alesis, QSC or even the two channel Onkyo that they have on clearance at CC.

Sounds like you may have a short or bad surround amp. A short is not out of the question; unless you're using banana plugs, the crowded speaker terminals of the 2600 can cause a short. Also, what is the impedance of your speakers?
