    Mirage Omnisat initial listen

Sorry guys, Sheep is absolutely correct. Speaker break-in is a total myth. Measurements have proved it, as well as DBT.

    speaker prob

Do they make noise when the input is unplugged? If they do I'd say it is a problem with the internal amp, if not, then it is prob a ground loop.

    I Need Some Direction

Parts Express has a 15" sub kit for 269. Part Number 300-770. This is a pretty good unit and should do well for both music and movies.

    I Need Some Direction

A pair of BIC DV62si's match up real well with that yamaha. I use the same receiver and speaker combo in my bedroom and it sounds pretty good.

    Dented metal tweeter dome?

Fixing a metal dome tweeter is trivial at best. 1. Remove driver from enclosure, noting the polarity of the wires. 2. Remove the 3 screws that hold the motor assembly to the magnet. 3. Seperate the motor assembly from the magnet, it should pull apart quite easily. 4. Use a pencil eraser and...

    Roger Russell's new loudspeakers

Roger IMO is a fine designer, and while these units are not conventional, I don't know that I would condemn them before giving them a listen. There are some very fine cone type drivers that sound very good up to 20kHz. As you know any driver will reproduce the entire sound spectrum, the question...

    Roger Russell's new loudspeakers

Oh yes, they are an outstanding loudspeaker. Even used they fetch a rather large chunk o change.

Klipsch Synergy F2 vs Polk RTi8 - similar speakers?

Klipsch are good speakers, the synergy line is not. Those are total crap. The 35 series is much better. I would go with the BIC acoustechs if you wanted to stay pretty cheap.

    Roger Russell's new loudspeakers

This is true, the FS of the drivers are prob ~60Hz or so. In reality, how much content in music is there below 30Hz? These are meant for 2 ch listening, and I'd bet they sound really good. I am a fan of Mr. Russell, I think some of the products he designed while at McIntosh were top notch, I...

    Roger Russell's new loudspeakers

Actually, I have heard 901 setups that sounded pretty darn good. The key to this type of design is the gain created by the linear array (which the 901's dont have). Much as a yagi antenna can have much gain, these speakers are very directional in the horizontal plane, thus eliminating the point...

Conservatives Trying to Ruin More American Jobs (aka Listen to Craig234 lecture)

Yes, you have to love a tax system that penalizes people more for succeeding. That makes sense. We need something closer to a flat tax, this will equal the playing field.

    Rush Limbaugh

Rush is an entertainer. That is his job. He’s really not that conservative. You want to hear an extreme conservative? Listen to Michael Savage, on the savage nation. That guy will have all the libs crying in their beer.

Fox News is in on the Global Warming conspiracy!

I said eruption. The data you have is from standard daily venting of geo sources. It does not take into account the frequent (every 10 years or so) large eruptions of Volcanos. A large eruption will put out orders of magnitude more gas. When these eruptions are averaged out, They far exceed what...

Fox News is in on the Global Warming conspiracy!

To think that humans have an effect on global warming is pure arrogance on our part. One minor volcanic eruption puts out more greenhouse gas than everything we have ever made.

    Bi-amp/Bi-wire... What is what please?

It's quite obvious you need an amp for each driver. How else can it possibly sound good?

Bass Mgnt with speaker-level sub connection.

No system will work like this unless you are using the volume control on the CD player only. If you are using high leve inputs with the sub, you need to go through the sub and use its crossover to send the high stuff to the loudspeakers. If you set the sub to crossover at 80Hz, then 80 and...

    Subwoofer "break-in"

I have not done any proper A/B tests, however, I owned the Xsub for a while and I listened to the S12 last week. I really think the X-sub is a much better unit. It seemed to dig deeper and have a nice punch. My next choice would be the Acoustech sub, then the mirage.

    Subwoofer "break-in"

I know a lot of you guys seem to like that mirage sub, but honestly, next to the Cadence X-sub, I think it is inferior. Just my 2c.
