    TV Antenna

I expected you to say 10 miles or so. I'm surprised that you can receive VHF channels on a UHF-only antenna over that large a distance. Nice...

    TV Antenna

How far are you from the towers? I think the 4228 is considered a UHF-only antenna but can pick up VHF if you're close enough.

    TV Antenna

Good advice, everyone. I am getting exciting about getting HD over the air. I have a perfect spot on my roof that is begging for an antenna. Once I get my new LCD wall mounted with power and cable drops installed, I'll tackle the antenna. I'll keep you all posted here. Thanks!

    TV Antenna

Upon further research, I think instead of a UHF-only antenna (like the 4221 or 4228), I think it would be more beneficial to get a VHF/UHF antenna such as the CM3018. Any advice?

Mitsu WD-65731 digital audio output issues

If there is a way to "activate" the DD output on the Mits, I'd love to hear about it. This is a thorn in my side when I first got my Mits too. It never even occured to me to ask the retailer since I assumed it would output DD. Otherwise, as you said, why have a DD output?? I posted...

Mitsu WD-65731 digital audio output issues

I have a Mits 52" DLP (Model 52631) and I run HDMI from my HD cable box to the TV and then the digital audio cable from the TV to the receiver. I have never gotten a digital signal from the TV. I don't believe the TV passes the signal in it's original DD format. I can't say why this is but...

    TV Antenna

I'm considering getting an antenna for my new Toshiba 720p LCD that I got in the master bedroom (the living room is already on Comcast HD and looks great). I'm trying to decide which antenna to try but I'm leaning to the Channel Master 4-bay or 8-bay (Model 4221 or 4228). By checking...

    Toshiba REGZA 37HL67

I jsut bought the Toshiba 32" LCD (32HF67U) for my bedroom and love it. Most content in the bedroom will be SD (for now, anyway) and it looks better than I expected. I saw HD through the same set at a friend's house and it looks excellent. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Toshiba.

    Going back to Netflix

If that turns out to be true, I think it's a deplorable business practice. A while back, we all heard about Best Buy and the practices they employed to cater to certain customers they felt were "worthy" and discourage others. If BB or Netflix wants to set a limit on the number of movies one...

    any thoughts on this system.

Amen to that. I have an old Velodyne, which I like, but if I was was buying new, it would be hard for me to decide between SVS and HSU.

    Going back to Netflix

That "unlimited" is the key. It really isn't unlimited because when you push the limits, they throttle you. By very definition, it is NOT unlimited. In fact, it is very limited and they (apparently) take steps to keep it limited. You have compromised to make it fit your lifestlye...more...

Well, I just got a "talkin' to"

That's probably true. After I upgrade to the Denon 3808, Axiom M60s and Bluray, we'll see where she stands.

Well, I just got a "talkin' to"

I'm lucky... I must have gotten lucky. My wife likes HT stuff and appreciates high quality audio and video almost as much as I do! In fact, she's the one that talked me into my 52" Mits DLP (which I love). She does have standards in terms of how stuff looks in the room, but other than...

optical cable for home theater....boy am i confused!

I have used several digital optical cables for DVD players and for my 8300HD and have never had a problem. They slide in and sort of click into place. If you are using a proper cable and trying to plug into the proper port, I would say there is something wrong with the 8300. Take it back and...

    Best portable DVD player?

I made a decision Just in case people were interested, I made a purchase decision yesterday. I went to BB and had the opportunity to check out the picture quality of about 10 different portable DVD players. BY FAR, the best picture quality of the ones there was the LG DP781. It has an 8"...

    Best portable DVD player?

I am thinking of buying my wife a portable DVD player for our anniversary coming up. It's our 4th (modern gift: appliances) and I figure electronics count. Plus, she's been wanting one for a while for plane and car trips. Does anyone have an opinion about a quality player for less than...

    Cool photos

Dominican Republic This is a picture from my Honeymoon to the Dominican Republic. This was the centerpiece during an all-resort dinner. This was carved from watermelon and other melons and took the artist three days to complete.
