    Thoughts of KEF

The speakers your brother is considering are fine, but the sub choice leaves much to be desired. I'd get another sub if I were him. Also, unless he really wants surround-specific speakers, I'd look into the iQ1s (or iQ3s, although the iQ1s will probably suffice) as surround speakers. The...

    Dual Center Channel

So, if you're well-aware of this, then you know exactly how the shape of the pinna affects sound localization in the medial plane. This is not rocket science. The tests are very easy to devise. The results can be obtained in a matter of minutes. I can't find the links to the articles for...

Biwiring Question and driving RBH 4-ohm speakers on a Yamaha RX-V2600

Sorry, I don't know what you're trying to say or what its relevance is.

Biwiring Question and driving RBH 4-ohm speakers on a Yamaha RX-V2600

But passively bi-amping a speaker by utilizing 2 amps of an amplifier/receiver, although perhaps not doubly beneficial for any number of reasons, is still completely different than amplifying a speaker with only one amp of the same amplifier/receiver.

Biwiring Question and driving RBH 4-ohm speakers on a Yamaha RX-V2600

I'm not sure what you are saying "not really" to. In your post, which was hard to understand, exactly, what you were describing seemed to me to be bi-wiring a speaker off of the same amplifier which is not he same thing as passively bi-amping a speaker off of 2 different amplifiers. I said that...

Help a noob wire his Wharfedale Diamonds

EDIT: Sorry Seth, I deleted that which you quoted in the above post, and reposted it with the required corrections and explanations here in this post, as I realized from your post #11 that some of what I had said did not apply to ALL receivers. Actually, this depends upon the receiver's design...

    Dual Center Channel

That's laughable. It's NOT theory. The extent of your knowledge of the subject is not so far-reaching. How hard do you think it is for a study to prove that sounds are less localizable when they originate above the plane of your ears than below the plane of your ears? Not hard at all...

    Dual Center Channel

To your knowledge? When have you shown an interest in this subject? I'm not going to do the research for you (or maybe I will), but you're flat wrong. It surprises me that in looking in the mirror at the evolutionary design of your own ears that this would not be intuitive to you. It's...

    Dual Center Channel

Yes, I would tend to agree, perhaps, but what I am describing is not simply an example of acoustic illusion or other psycho-acoustic phenomena, but, instead, has a firm basis in real anatomic structure and function.

    Dual Center Channel

I explained why it's less localizable when above the plane of your ears than below. Granted, placing it above your TV may not necessarily place it above the plane of your ears; that would depend, ultimately, upon your TV's height. But one need only look at the way your ears are designed to...

Honestly, what he's saying isnt really very clear.

    Klipsch RW-12d vs. RSW-10d

This is a very pertinent question. Not really sure what this means, exactly. Why would you want to set the subwoofer's crossover setting, either at the sub or with your receiver, higher than is necessary for your speakers? I think what the dealer is hinting at is that the subwoofer performs...

    Dual Center Channel

Actually, placement of the center channel speaker above the screen is the best location if you do NOT want the speaker's sound to be localizable. Our ears are designed by nature to hear and localize sounds that come from below us better than those that come from above us. Just look at them...

    Klipsch RW-12d vs. RSW-10d

Not to speak to the pros and cons of Klipsch subs, but that RSW sub is in a different league than the RW subs.

Biwiring Question and driving RBH 4-ohm speakers on a Yamaha RX-V2600

Then by definition, that wouldn't be "bi-amping". Granted, the benefits of passively bi-amping by assigning the extra 6th and 7th amplifiers of a receiver (and many allow this, nowadays) that's only being used for "5.1" to bi-amp duty is marginal, at best. BTW, replacing the standard flat...

Help a noob wire his Wharfedale Diamonds

The "B" outputs represent an extra set of outputs from the front 2 R/L amps. Whatever is coming out of the front "A" outputs, is what comes out of the front "B" outputs when they're used simultaneously. The same settings that would be applied to the front R/L "A" outputs, in any particular...

    Need MIDRANGE. Suggestions Please.

Not sure what your budget is, but check out KEFs. iQ series (less expensive) or XQ series (more expensive). What B&Ws are you looking at? Also, why do you need a tower if you "don't need that much woofer because of the JL Audio Fathom F112"?
