yup, same kia. these things are basically the ford f-series of korea. they come in a million different variations and i'd so 50-60% of the vehicles on the road are bongo's or hyundai's equivalent "porter". 55-60km/gallon and the thing never dies. can't beat the 12" dualies either haha.

what sort of bad experiences do you have with sony products? i think their equipment is comparable to most of the other major brands out there. i've never had any problems with their stuff and they are not drastically more expensive than any other brand. i still use a shelf system i got back...

nice setup. what didn't you like about payback? sound/picture quality of the disk or the plot? personally i think payback is one of mel gibson's best movies.

depending on your specific needs, i don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices you listed, however i have never played with the newer onkyos. if you aren't specifically looking for HDMI you may want to check out outlaw audio products as well.

the only major downside i have come across so far is finding enough outlets. i am using a belkin PF60 for power protection and am quickly running out of outlets between 5 amps, pre/pro, display, dvd player, etc. i have never heard a break in sound when the amps switch between the two classes...

have you checked out the new onkyo line? lots of models with HDMI 1.3...just something else to consider. can't answer any of your specific questions though...

i am currently running 5 of these. i have a stack of 4 and they do not get hot at all. you can feel some warmth after 2 hours of use, but it is by no means hot compared to my old sony AVR

i thought the same thing. i played a bunch of DVD-A's on my Oppo 971 before i bought my current unit. i did a bling comparison and could tell a noticable increase everytime.

make sure you leave plenty of room between them and wall. i noticed a significant sound improvement when i moved mine from 1' to 3':)
