Get the umc-200 and use your rx-v2500 as an amp with the 7.1 inputs and pure direct. It it may be an outdated receiver, but it's still a good amp.

I can't do in-ear either. These are cheap and work well. The over ear hook holds them in place, and replacement ear pads are cheap should you need them. I went through about 4 pair of different phones before landing on these. Philips SHS390/27 - Neckband Headphones

There is no crossover on the woofer. It's a completely separate box. The amp controlled the crossover. It's basically a standalone sub. I'd have to split the pre out as it still needs to go to the amp powering the rest of the tower...
