Any experience with these speakers? Would I notice a real change in sound?

Audioholics recomends, in one of the many subwoofer articles, that crossover should be set to 150 and phase set to 0. Most subwoofer recomendations from other sources, say different. Which settings are more commonly used in a small room???

Just found an excelent deal on this Yamaha Universal player. Upscaling, upsampling, DAC converter, SACD, DVD-Audio and more. In the Yamaha website this player appears at 4oo+, it was lately sold at 290 and now I find it at Amazon for 80.00. Any comments??
