I think the improvement would be slight in any case. In a double-blind test, most people would find it hard to tell the difference between a decent DVD player and a Hi-End CD player. Cheers!

It's just stereo and single layer. Hybrid means that the disc contains two layers: SACD layer and CD layer; so that it can play on all SACD and CD players.

I don't think SACD is an endangered format. It won't ever be a product for the masses, but it has got a well consolidated niche market now.
