    need to extend the pre-wired speaker wires

    I'm looking to install speaker terminal wall plates. Have hardwired 12 ga. speakerwire in walls to junction boxes. Have banana connectors for my speaker connections -- any recommendations as to which plates I should get?

    Surge Supressor/Power Conditioner/Power Center --> What do I need?

    I do have a dedicated circuit for my system. I think I should still have at least a surge protector. Still wondering about the necessity of a power conditioner, though.

    Surge Supressor/Power Conditioner/Power Center --> What do I need?

    Thanks for the feedback, and the links. The powersystemsdirect site has some good explanations to go with their products. That site has been the most helpful (thus far) for me. I'll be getting at least a decent surge protector.

    Surge Supressor/Power Conditioner/Power Center --> What do I need?

    I am really having a tough time understanding what I *should* get for my system (Currently Pio 1130 plasma, Pio 74txvi receiver, satellite-tivo, and a still undetermined dvd player. Will be adding sub and seperate amps later). Dealer wants to sell me Monster HTS 2600 or Panamax Max 5100. I did...

    Need a good UPS (or other power protection) for my HDTV

    Same question here. I am really having a tough time understanding what I *should* get for my system (Pio plasma, Pio 74txvi, satellite-tivo, dvd player). Dealer wants to sell me Monster HTS 2600 or Panamax Max 5100. Now I see APC H10, and the Audiohalics recommended Tripp Lite HT10DBS.... Is...

    Pioneer 1015 vs Elite 52 vs Marantz 5600

    If you liked the Pioneer, maybe look at the 74txvi. I've the same speaker set-up, and went with the 74. It's going into my still under-construction house, so I can't give a review yet.

    Oppo DV971H DVD Player Review

    Nice review. For $199, it appears to be a pretty darn good unit. I am hoping to see the audio review soon, as it's abilities (or lack therof) for music playback will be the deciding factor for me on this unit vs something else.

    New Pioneer vs New Yamaha

    Thanks for explaining this! I (obviously) have little knowledge about - nor do I have the ability to differentiate between- "upconversion", "upscaling" and "transcoding." I've lots to learn yet! I'd guess that I have no need for Yamaha's upscaling feature, since the HD Plasma I'm looking at...

    New Pioneer vs New Yamaha

    Thanks for the insight. I already understood that one shouldn't expect a HD level picture from a signal that is "upconverted" from an analog signal (for example). I'll keep my expectations in check, regardless. I will, at some point in the future, purchase an amp (or amps) for my system and use...

    New Pioneer vs New Yamaha

    I guess I'm thinking about the upconverting to HDMI features of the receivers I'm considering. Does the 4600 have these same features (I'll do a search)? Also, isn't the 4600 more, pricewise? I don't think the Denon will have the upconverting features, either? Hope I can get a few more thoughts...

    New Pioneer vs New Yamaha

    New Pioneer or New Yamaha? This has become a real dilemma for me! I was all set to get the Pioneer Elite VSX-74TXVi (info here ), then Yamaha goes and releases the new RX-V2600 (info here)! I know there are very few 74TXVi's out there, and the 2600 is just being released, so real comparisons...

    Yamaha Announces RX-V2600 Receiver with HDMI Upconversion & Scaling!

    Uh Oh. I *thought* I had just decided on Pioneer's VSX-74TXVi; it appears I may need to reconsider. So I don't hijack this thread, I should probably start a new thread to get some thoughts on a comparison between the two....

    Where to buy online Marantz or Pioneer Elite

    They have both new and "Factory Certified" Marantz equipment on their website. I asked in the Beginners Forum (a while back) if anyone had any experiences with them. I got only minimal feedback, so I called Marantz USA direct to make sure they were an "authorized" dealer -- I didn't want to get...

    MS Avant 900 Series

    I purchased a MS500 series set-up from accessories 4 less. I had no problems with the transaction, they were good to deal with! I would/will buy from them again! I'm still sorting out the rest of my system (display, receiver and disc player -- maybe a sub), and will be installing it in my new...

    Denon Announces AVR-3806 and AVR-4306 Receivers!

    Thanks for the links! Nice to be able to get more info on these units. It'd be cool to see a "shoot-out" between , say the 74txvi and the 4306.
