Is it time to let Star Wars go?

This is a question I am posing because I still semi-regularly see articles on movie websites about Star Wars. It has been 35 years and people are still dissecting A New Hope. Really?? I am so sick of hearing about Star Wars minutia that it makes me gag. When can we move on...

    Prometheus trailer

Very nice!! That video could have gone on for another 10 minutes at least, though. They were being kind I guess. Here are a few more: 1) Is Damon Lindelof retarded? 2) How does Damon Lindelof keep getting writing gigs? 3) If I see Damon Lindelof on the street, will I punch him in...

nOOb looking for more help on receiver

The Marantz would be fine for you I'm guessing. You need to do your research, though, and figure out if you have needs that the Marantz can't handle (doubtful). Unless you are buying a passive subwoofer, the receiver/amp does not power the subwoofer. Almost everyone buys a powered...

    Prometheus trailer

Saw the movie . . . I saw Prometheus is IMAX 3D today. On the good side, the set designs were amazing and the movie overall is gorgeous. This was also probably the best live action 3D movie that I've seen as far as 3D goes (Avatar is a close 2nd for me). The 3D is not overdone, it just adds...

Transit of Venus is happening today

Out of curiosity, how exactly do you make this exciting? Personally, I have been trying to figure out why people were excited about this. It's a black circle moving across a big yellow circle!! I understand the lunar eclipse as that is relatively dramatic, but not this one.

    Prometheus trailer

Well, if you head over to aintitcoolnews, you'll see an article with this headline: "Harry says forget about ALIEN & ALIENS before going in to see PROMETHEUS, Ridley is up to something different!!!" Hopefully that doesn't count as a spoiler for anyone. Ridley has been saying that all along.

    Prometheus BD up for pre-order???

They are/were giving away theatrical tickets (first 5000 I think I read) to people who pre-ordered it on blu-ray, so that is one reason to list it so early. I believe they did that with Men in Black III as well.

    Benefits to upgrading

Absolutely. You are not getting lossless audio from optical connections. Upgrade to a receiver with HDMI and enjoy some DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD audio from your blu-ray player.

I'll put my Barnstead unit up against your Millipore system any day!! :D Just a joke . . . your response got me to wondering if there has ever been a thread war over who makes a better water polisher. That would be some ultimate geeking out . . .

Yes, I've been successful doing this quite a few times. You answered yourself with the "dilution solution". :) You can use any drying method from that point. I have used a hair dryer for fast results because I wanted to quickly see if my efforts were successful.

    Prometheus trailer

There is this theory: "A big issue is cost. Releasing a movie isn't as simple as just handing out copies. Prints of films are extremely expensive, something on the order of thousands of dollars for each print, and to release it in theaters all across the world would require printing a copy of...

Saving electronics from water I've saved quite a few electronic items for people in the past - a camera that someone dropped in a toilet and a wrist watch that fell into a bathtub come to mind off the top of my head. Here's what I recommend if you are desperate to try and save something...
