I need a 5 meter run of XLR cables that are shielded but I am having a hard time finding any that I like.
Does anyone have a link to such an item? Price needs to be less than $500 but not $19.99.
Thanks in advance.

You won't hear a difference. Seriously.

Almost all cables are shielded, but the IXOS brand had absolutely nothing to shield the ones I bought with list price of $400, but they were noise free, so the customer decided it wasn't worth the headache of returning them. Those had no-name plugs and three braided wires that could have been from extension cords (Black, White & Green) with translucent white plastic braid covering the wires.

I have used Mogami, Hosa, Canare/Neutrik, Belden with Neutrik and other brands of plugs and none of it improved or degraded the sound. My old Audio Technica mic cables work just as well as any of the more expensive ones.

I know people who work in consumer, pro audio and recording studios- one of these guys works in all three and when I asked him what he thinks of the high priced stuff, he asked "Where do you think studios send people on a Friday night when they need cables and adapters?" I answered with 'Radio Shack" and he said "EXACTLY!".

Don't sweat the cost, enjoy your system but if you do buy some expensive AND cheap ones that can be returned, do your own comparison, but do it right- knowing which is being used DOES affect our judgement.

There are lots on the market. What is the application? 100' of Belden cable has just arrived here within the hour. A member in Norway needs specialist cables made up, which I will build tomorrow. I will use 30' and have 70' spare. I only have female ends, but I want to keep those as those plugs are much better build than the switchcraft plugs that just arrived. Switchcraft are still probably the best quality plugs, but like everything else not made in the US anymore, but slightly wrong in China; sometimes very wrong.

Why do you want to pay that much for XLR cables? Are you into funny wire or what?

I started seeing Neutrik/SpeakON in pro audio systems and music stores a long time ago- they really made a dent the market for Switchcraft, Amphenol, etc. I prefer the screw on end to the little screws in the switchcraft plugs- easy to lose the screws.

I think I have some Neutrik XLR- let me know if you need some.

Bluejeans is of course always good, but 15' will be about $50/ea. I use their unbalanced for all my analog connections and their HDMI cables because their connectors are all top notch.

I bought the 6.5' ver of these for my pre and a longer one for my sub and they work perfectly fine. No 15' offered though, only 25.

That's the reason buying bulk cable and as many ends as you might need is a good way to make custom lengths and save a lot of money. With decent/good/great soldering skills, they're as good as any.

Why do you even need that long a connection? Buy or build a black set and cover it with this neon green techflex https://www.ebay.com/itm/350715263526?hash=item51a8423a26:g:plAAAOSwafdaz6aY&amdata=enc:AQAIAAAA4MQ9AWIfJiHyMKVK70Q+LMMB6aUHzwY0kznSgzbvlS0q6PtEJoCqHNQsd4+uooXrOkbBXRpB5GIqbePwju8Xpl2SEsZ4WwLsM0SerNxfiZJqjoxIREPnnPwvs4FDpNlWJOksij75z29vHCyYvmeoH12rYxaPTTPb3mgEgy1w/0kUEwmEpJfl6QPmtdFh5/rmy6+rym7vmI2a87OYxuAfPH932sjJj3vLXamJVvM8pHQtcLH/ewM9SCeBbsLZrpZJ3Wad1LOpNY0f3OJjpxWWQuIVgubnQIG0GXJnbfWqtInA|tkp:BFBMgsaypKNj

What the Hell is wrong with you? Why are you making a Federal case out of this?

Here are green cables at a good price. They use Belden cables, which I have always used and there is nothing wrong with them. I just ordered some balanced cable from this outfit to make three specialized cables for a member that needs an RC network in his three cables.

There is nothing wrong with these cables. Just buy them, or are you going to persist in acquiring the Audiophool label complete with their badge of honor?

As I posted, all cables are shielded.

Why are we searching for cables for you? You have already spent more time posting here than it would take to find what you want. I changed my search to 'green 5 meter XLR cables' and found a lot- next, you'll be telling us that you don't like the shade of green.

Good luck to you.

In the pro audio world, 100 meter XLR cables are common.

We did a recording of the Cleveland Orchestra, not at Severance Hall, but at the old Masonic Temple.
I guesstimated that we had about a mile of assorted cables. It took forever to tear down.
