I had a roommate way back when in the bay area who was a huge fan, and from what he played in the house, wasn't a huge fan but haven't tried since....seems those cuts aren't like what I remember....any other suggestions?

That album is a bunch of covers of their influences, whole thing is good. The albums Tinderbox and Peepshow are solid, but I'd listen to them first. The Best of album is also a solid selection of their best stuff.
