Hi!

I have recently bought a Pioneer Elite vsx-lx101 AV receiver. It works great but I have a problem playing Atmos files. I have tried playing "Mad Max" thru a PS4 but in my receiver display I get the Dolby TrueHD format instead of Dolby Atmos. The same happens with some demo files I have downloaded from internet. I have downloaded some DTS X demos and my AV receiver shows the correct format.

This is the info from one of the demo files I downloaded:
Audio
ID : 2
Format : Atmos / TrueHD
Codec ID : A_TRUEHD
Duration : 1 min 3 s
Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 6 694 kb/s
Maximum bit rate : 9 096 kb/s
Channel(s) : Object Based / 8 channels
Channel positions : Object Based / Front: L C R, Side: L R, Back: L R, LFE
Sampling rate : / 48.0 kHz
Frame rate : 1 200.000 FPS (40 spf)
Compression mode : Lossless
Stream size : 50.7 MiB (36%)
Default : Yes
Forced : No

Could you please help me?

Thanks!

I just encountered this the other day too. PS4 DOES support Atmos and DTS-X. There are two places you need to change the audio output, first in the audio output settings for the system you need to set it to bitstream. ALSO, when you insert a movie, you need to go to options once the disc is playing (PS4 options, NOT the disc menu) and make sure it is also set to bitstream. I had mine set to bitstream for the system but when I played a disc, I noticed it wasn't the correct audio so I poked around the menus and found that settting then it worked.
