Looking for a solid processor to pair with my ATI 2005

I have an ATI 2005. Yes it is old but with it's true differential design it really does perform well. I am in the market for a processor but do not want to pay 2K. BasX is interesting at 499 but I was wondering what kind of value I could get for say 700-800. My basic requirement above all else is superb sonic performance, very flexible bass management, with most of the better sound formats. I don't need them all just the ones where there is good media to support them.

Please advise

In that price range you’re probably limited to Emotiva, Outlaw or NuForce. Everything else that I know of will cost you 2-3 times as much, if not more.

Since I was in a similar situation very recently, there is stuff out there that I've found, especially in the pre-owned market.

Depending on specific Dolby, DTS or even Auro technology that you are looking for, I've seen stuff around your budget if you look on audiogon.com; audioclassics.com; usaudiomart.com; ebay.com; and peruse your local or regional craigslist.com. And it is always worth checking out the used gear forum here or avsforum.com among other pre-pro/amp/speaker forum sites.

I picked up a Marantz AV8802 for $1000 on audioclassics.com (MSRP is $3999). I've seen the Marantz AV7005 for under $750 in some places listed above.

$599

http://www.audioclassics.com/detail?detail=RSP1068&nav=cat
$339

Good luck and happy hunting.
