With soo much available for hdmi, why not start one goto guide for selecting, purchasing, and clarifying snake oil.

I see them labeled as standard and high speed but really what is the difference? Especially in runs less than 20 feet.
If I have a cable purchased in 2005, would that be capable of carrying any signal?

Let's say, down the road, I need my hdmi cable a little longer. Would i see any benefit to purchasing a cable to that length or buying a coupler and extending it (again, still under a 20' run)

Pros cons for redmere, arc, ethernet. And when they should be used?

How about newbies list all their equipment so that help members help them? The hdmi spec is simple with little need for charts after some simple reading

Connector type and jacket type in terms of the physical cable. The jacket is thicker on the FE and the connectors are slightly more stout, but otherwise they should both perform identical in short lengths. I've used both. For in wall, go with the standard tartan. That's what I ran in the wall for my dad's system and it worked fine.
