i heard from someone that the new Platinum are AWESOME
I can't wait to see Gene's review of the new SV-831/1212 with its Aurum Cantus Aero Striction ribbon tweeter.

I heard someone say the Aurum Cantus ribbon tweeter is superlative with absolutely awesome dynamics, resolution and clarity.

The 3 x 8" midrange drivers and 2 x 12" woofers aren't shabby either.

I only hope the weight of the SV-831 is "only" 90lbs, not 120lb. :D

I might have to upgrade my 5 x SX-T2/R to (4 x SV-831/1212R) + SV-821C. :eek:

LOL you desire to not upgrade for a while seems to changed lol. I am a fan of Ribbon Tweeters obviously, would be interested to see if it suffers from some of the same issues as other Ribbons, horizontal dispersion.

No way I would just upgrade before extensive listening. I've heard ribbons before too.

Not all ribbons have that issue.
This is the Philharmonic BMR's frequency response (red is on-axis, lt. blue is 30°, and dk. blue is a whopping 75° off-axis!):

I don't know where the crossover is for the RAAL ribbon tweeter, but the 30° curve stays within 3dB and the 75° stays within 6 or 7dB. More importantly all three curves look like they would fit in a +/-3dB window!!!

If someone wants a good deal on a pair of SX-8300/r a dealer is selling his demo pair 2580+ shipping on Audiogon

That is a good price for the SX-8300/R (MSRP $5900).

Each tower is about 100lbs boxed. So shipping may cost another $200. But still saves you a few hundred dollars over new.

If someone would please buy my red Linkwitz Orion, I would probably replace them with the RBH SX-8300/R, unless all inventories are gone.

I am very interested in the SV-831-1212 towers, but I think each cabinet is probably 120lbs, which is over my light-weight limit. :)

Is $350 a fair price for 4 R5Bi speakers and the matching R5Ci center (less than a year old, great condition and all in black glossy black)? I would be the seller in the transaction.

Seems like a fair price for all 5 speakers.

FYI, the 2 standard colors/finish for the SV line are the Gloss Black and the Gloss South American Rosewood.

Most of the SV speakers are now available to ship.

Someone has asked me about the availability of the RBH SV-1212N/R. It is available to ship now.

Trade in your SX-t2 for the SV line

You can never know for sure about the future.

But I am 100% happy with my current SX-T2/R x 5 system.

This makes it harder to think about change.

Regarding the SV Line Beryllium upgrade, although the Beryllium Tweeter & Beryllium Woofer should be available in the near future, at this time, only the Beryllium midrange is available for upgrade. Each beryllium midrange is $400 MSRP.

This thread is for discussion of RBH products. Please share your experiences and comments. I have included some RBH product reviews and pricing.

I have wondered about the drivers used in the RBH Reference speakers.

So here they are:

1. Tweeter - Scan-Speak 9500 Silk Dome
2. Midrange - RBH 165-FPN Cast Aluminum
3. Woofer - RBH ALU200-IDCN Cast Aluminum

FPN = Phase Plug Non-shielded
IDCN = Inverted Dust-Cap Non-shielded

Ugg.. I just bought a close out center channel directly from them. Now they have the reference model on Amazon for 50 bucks more. :(
Are you going to return it and get the Reference for $50 more? :D
