Default Beatles digital remastered at last.

At last the Beatles music is being digitally remastered and will be released in September. I hope they make it available in a lossless format as well as the CD's. I can only hope it sounds anywhere near as good as the Love DVD-A.

Wow, as if I haven’t invested enough money in all things Beatles. Ah well, something to put on my Christmas list for this year

That's excellent news; it's going to hurt the bank, but I think my dad would also want this; good birthday gift I suppose.

    Beatles lovers around the world,

I don't want to rain on your parade with this announcement but beware what you ask for. As a veteran of the "repackaging" ,"remixing" and "remastering" age, I have been disappointed as often as thrilled with the work. So much depends on who is doing the editing and how it's done. I wish you the best, however and as an Elvis collector I advise you to save more money for the next "revision" of their work to come!!

I have actually read a bit on these remasters. They sound to be a good thing, and for non-purists like myself, it will be nice to have all of their work in stereo, much of it for the first time...

I've been following this story for about a year and a half, and I had just about given up on any progress being made until you showed me this article.

This is great news! If the price is okay, I'd like to get it at launch.

It'd be nice if they threw us a tidbit of information as to whether or not they'll work on surround sound release.

EDIT: Looks like I found the answer to my question:

Looks like this author shares a passion for the latest technology. I suppose we can hope for surround mixes sometime down the road if Blu-ray takes off. I think Blu-ray could really harness all the work the Beatles have done.

fast1, per the articles, Apple Corps hasn't struck an agreement with iTunes or any other digital distribution platform yet. They haven't reached acceptable terms. This has been holding up the release of the project all by itself. They'll continue talks up to the release date, but I suspect they will make this physical-product-exclusive for a set period of time to capitalize on the release.

Everyone who wants to pick their favs will likely do so sometime down the road past then. It sounds like it is a pricing (or profit) issue for iTunes, et al.

If you’re going to buy compressed music, why bother with newly remastered music?
