skizzerflake should be listened to
Tonight, it's an interesting piece of the past. The Beatles and many other early British rockers were inspired by Skiffle, a music genre that never made if out of the isles, even though it was inspired by US genres such as country and blues and especially Woodie Guthrie. The "King of Skiffle", Lonnie Donegan was an electrifying performer. With his high, odd voice he inspired the Quarrymen who became the Beatles. There's a bunch of videos on Youtube...can't miss these...

Steel Panther - Death To All But Metal !!!!
Ex-LA Guns singer Ralph Saenz's (aka Michael Starr) 80's tribute/parody band Steel Panther have been selling out South California's Key Club fairly regularly for some time now. Tongue in cheek humour, larger than life parody personas, and a wealth of on-stage celebrity guests (ranging from Tom morello, to Pink, to April Margera) helped them gain considerable recognition. It was only a matter of time until the guys landed themselves a record deal and set about recording their debut under the Steel Panther name. Is it as bad as it sounds? A juvenile jibe at 80's metal cliches complete with unoriginal music and utterly stupid lyrics? Without a shadow of a doubt, yes. And yet, it's utterly brilliant.
The Motels All Four One
Outside of that song Only the Lonely I have not really been aware of these guys but it's pretty good stuff. The LP is recorded well and the music is just good old fashioned Rock & Roll. One of the tracks is a little Bluesy with sax. The female vocalist sounds like she needs me... and it was part of a 3 for a buck deal.
