Arrow The Dark Knight - Busting More than Box Office Records

he much anticipated Dark Knight directed by Christopher Nolan and staring Christian Bale as Batman and the late Heath Ledger as the Joker made its debut this weekend by setting a one-day box office record with $66.4 million on the opening day. This begs yet another question. Will the Dark Knight provide the necessary boost to migrate consumers over to this allegedly won next generation Blu-ray disc format?

That's very impressive. The movie has an estimated budget of $150 big ones (according to imdb) which should make it much more profitable than Spiderman 3.

I honestly don't understand how Spidey 3 grossed so much coin. The movie was poorly edited, had bad acting, and a weak plot. At least 45min of this movie could have been completely eliminated. I actually hated Spiderman after seeing it.

Agreed. I managed to watch about 15 minutes of it, and that's only because I forced myself to keep watching in the hopes that it would get better. Maybe it picks up later on, but I just couldn't take any more.

If you want to throw up in your mouth and swallow it, try watching the bar scene where he tries to show off to his girlfriend. I wish I had those 2+ hours of my life back again.

Hee, hee! Sounds like I made a wise choice in turning it off.

As for The Dark Knight, I am looking forward to seeing that.

As for Soiderman3. I rarely allow myself to get burned on bying movies. But fr some reason, despite the fact that I utterly hated Spiderman3, I went out and bought it; just to have the Trilogy. I'm still pukng in my mouth and swallowing it. (I gotta borrow that one Gene).

I have not seen The Dark Night...yet. Seems like this summer the wife and I had to really strap down and decide, for budget reasons, which movies we'll go see. I used some of my extra summer money to see The Incredible Hulk and Hancock (see a superhero pattern here?), and took the family out to see Kung Fu Panda. I enjoyed all of them, especially the last one. But the kids have been begging to see Journey to the Center of the Earth and the boys really want to see Star Wars. That's way too much money for us to spend. But The Dark Night is a must see this summer for us.

    SPOILER:
I noticed today at Toys R Us that the Batcycle comes out of the Batmobile. Now that's Batman cool.

My favorite character in Superdork 3 was Harry Osbourne. I liked how James Franco carried the role. When he got his memory back they should have made the tormenting toward Spiderdork much more interesting. They tried to do too much in one movie, it was an epic failure. Batman completely blows Spiderdork 3 out of the sand. It's nice to see a few comic book adaptation movies with some depth and suspense.

Well, as expected, The Dark Knight broke the record for the 3-day weekend gross. I can only hope it breaks Titanic's record.
