In a somewhat related story, they are making a sequel to Dark Crystal. If you are interested, here is a snippet of information:Originally Posted by j_garcia

Very interesting movie from the Jim Henson Company. If you like fantasy stuff - think Labyrinth, Dark Crystal (both also Jim Henson Co.), Legend, Tim Burton's stuff, etc... You'll probably like this dark, bizzare story. The theme is fairly typical for this sort of story, but it is the odd characters, unique style and great visuals that make it interesting.
It had a surprising amount of LFE at times and very well done surround. There was at least one surround bit in particular, when one character skips a stone on the water toward the viewer from center to right rear that was very cool.
Overall, the story is a bit lacking, but visually and soundwise it is worth a rental.

Wow - thanks for the heads up. I added it to my DVD queue - but of course your one lousy post on a popular website has me at a "Long Wait" now... lol
Ron Temple should be listened to
Watched it tonight. Stylized CGI muppets meet Fellini. The story is interesting, but slow and somewhat on the dull side. The eye candy is sometimes stunning and as John said the LFE is fairly prevalent and sometimes surprising. Definite Midnight Movie material.
Slow IS the word with this one; definitely not an action flickThe story is predictable, clearly Through the Looking Glass-esque, but with a darker feel to it.
Alan, thanks for the heads up on that one! I'll be looking for thatIMDB says tentative 2007 release date.

Thought I would bump this. I just came across the movie randomly and was pleasantly surprised. The sound was really good (more than just LFE) and it has some very intriguing/interesting visuals. As others already mentioned, the story is a bit lacking, but the movie was well worth it for me for the sound and some of the visuals alone.
