Default Great Ribbon Speakers for $2000 or less

    Hey Everyone!

Anyone wish to provide some great home stereo speaker options for me?

Preferences include ribbon speakers, good frequency range, good stereo field (sounds live)

I'll be listening to anything from vinyl to MP3s.

    Thanks guys

    Philharmonic 2 speakers hands down!

RAAL ribbon tweeters and BG Neo8 ribbon midrange.

I just got the Philharmonic 3 speakers ($3K). They are absolutely amazingly IMO when compared to my other speakers - Salon2, Orion3, KEF 201/2.

Best bang for your hard earned money right there!

^ What he said. Nothing else comes close on paper, and likely sound quality wise.
My journey to find the "perfect" speaker

No matter what measurements tell us, a loudspeaker isn't good until it sounds good. – Dr. Floyd Toole

Good speakers generally sound good in most rooms. It's only below the transition frequency (300 Hz or so depending on the size of the room) where the room largely determines how good the speaker sounds, and there judicious placement, equalization and multiple subwoofers can fix those problems. - Dr. Sean Olive

Back when DenPureSound almost ordered the Phil3, I told him that he'd better order quick because as soon as Dennis gets that 100th order, that $2,800 price will double.

Funny thing was, Dennis increased the price to $3K the next day.

Barely an increase at all, but still.

Of course, this was purely due to the increased cost of the packing materials, insulation, etc.

But it raises a good point. Dennis is hardly making any profits on these speakers at all. So if any material costs increase, he will have to increase the price to avoid a loss on his end since the margin is so small.

Bottom line, Dennis is crazy for keeping the prices so low. If I were Donald Trump, I would order a million pairs of each, market them, send to HTM, Stereophile, and sell them for 3 times the price.

And if you were Donald Trump, you would wait about 1 million years for delivery. Plenty of time to do something about that hair.

He says that hair is for good luck.

He also thinks he's immortal, so a million years turnaround is okay.

So you're saying the 2 is still better than the 3 or?

    No.

The Phil3 has more bass than the Phil2. But they have the same RAAL tweeter & BG Neo8 midrange.

Not exactly sure of what you limit your definition of ribbon to but Magnepan 1.7s are 'Quasi-Ribbon' and I think worth a listen. Martin Logan Vista's are another electrostat that are in your price range.
