picture looks grainy. lots of lil black dots when watching 1080p blu ray movies.

not sure if theres a setting im missing?

for instance, when watching 300 its a lot worse. but that movie is known for being grainy.

Try lowering sharpness level.

its already down to 20
Set on 20 is not tell me anything. On my Oled TV I have sharpness set to 0. If u have 20 and see artefacts on picture, so 20 is still to high or there is another "edge enhancer" working maybe.

i lowered it to 5 from the default of 20
also saw on my denon x3300 it was set to movie on picture mode, so i turned that off because the tv itself is set to movie.
also i/p scaler was on, so i turned that off
i guess the denon was doing extra processing not needed and degrading the picture
looks better now. but i need to try the movies again where i saw all that cloudiness, or graininess whattever its called.

I'd just turn sharpness to 0, I never use it. I don't have your set, tho, but with HD content have never had any need.

Make sure the denon is set to pass through.
Isf calibration can be expensive but this disk can get you pretty close.

Lots of black dots could be a bad cable too. If it's film grain, it's probably by design. 300 does have some interesting texture though.

i have to say for $600 plus tax im keeping it. havent tried 4k hdr10 and dolby vision.

only problem so far, i guess its called noise. dvds, blurays, youtube videos.

you can see tiny little black dots everywhere. but only if you look for them.
ive tried every setting, cant get rid of them.

Depending on the video some add grain to them for a "film effect". Some movies go too far and it can get distracting. If that's what you're seeing, then it isn't going away. If it isn't then I'm not sure what could cause that.

well i think im gong to return this one too. no matter what settings i try the "noise" "grain" doesnt go away.
have watched many dvds and its always there. blu rays look better. i thought i could live with the graininess but i cant. apparently this tv upscaling is not good.
you get what you pay for, lesson learned. no more tcl or budget tvs for me.

what i need is a good upscaling tv since i dont plan to use 4k at all. but all tvs these days have 4k

this is the last time returning a tv, it gets tiresome.
im upping my budget to $1500 tops.
any recommendations for 65 inch? rather buy from costco

Try a pixar film. They have almost no grain. I still say it could be the content you are viewing.
