Help needed, rookie at work

Hello all

I am new here and have been really impressed with the information here. It is going to take a while to absorb it all. I have a question on speaker placement in my basement room. I have enclosed a diagram. I would prefer to mount the surround speakers in the ceiling, but I am not sure from my research that it would be a good idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of speakers do you have? That will dictate a lot about where they're going to end up.

I don;t have speakers yet, so I can be flexible.
