Marantz RC-1400 or the MX-500????

Guys I need your expertise again! I am looking to get a RC1400 or the MX-500. The RC1400 is $99 at www.ac4l.com. While the MX-500 is $149 at best try. Oooops, I ment bestbuy.com. I want the remote to learn and control every function on all the remotes of my components. Especially my Yamaha receiver remote w/ the dsp modes. Which one is better?

I recently retired my Marantz RC 2000 MKII after 7 years of faithful service. Because the MX 500 is very similar to the 2000 I was able to program the remotes similarly.
