Cables??

Hello, I jsut went out and spent 180.00 canadian on some Monster and Accoustic research cables for a Yamaha Rxv 650 and the Athena micra 5.1. They were the monster brand and some Acoustic research since the store was outta some of the wires from acoustic research. this is to hook up a PS2, and a DVD player to my non-HDTV television and Reciever. Di I wate my money and can anyone suggest a cheaper brand of cable?

did you get taken for a ride ? if I count right (based on your description), there's at least two SVideo cables, at least four RCA interconnects, and a hundred feet or so of speaker cable ?? if you ran everything through the receiver, that's 1 more SVideo and 2 RCA's. I'd say that's a little on the hefty side, but you could have done much, much worse, especially if you are happy with the quality of the sound and video. :)

Yes, you spent too much.

Go to Walmart and buy the cables there. They have some Philips branded cables which are every bit as good as Monster and much cheaper.

For speaker wire, just buy some 14 gauge speaker wire.

:rolleyes: Ok I guess I should have clarified, 1 composite vid, 1-25 foot subwoofer cable,2 optical cables for surround. all for $140.00 canadian. Walmart doesn't carry that brand up here in Canada, just the RCA brand. No speaker cable either.
