Hello, I recently purchased Toshiba's SD-6915 DVD-A + SACD Player. (SACD plays terrifically)
At first my DVD-A's played normally, dvd-a layer. But all of a sudden my DVD-A discs are now only playing the secondary dvd layer
Is there a problem with the lazer? I've tried unplugging the system and restarting it but it didn't help.

B&D,
I have no idea whatsoever if this might be the problem, but I ran into a similar issue with a new Denon 2900.
It would not read the DVD-A p[ortion of DVD-A discs. Only the Dolby Digital portion.
I found that there was a setting in my menu that was for "Audio" and "Video", in an odd place.
I thought it was for setting the default player mode, but as it turned out it was for choosing between the Audio and Video portions in DVD-Audio discs.
Look around and see if yours has something like this, and see if it is set correctly.
I was just about ready to send the Denon back for repairs before someone here got me onto that setting.
Hope it helps.

To play High Resolution DVD-A you need Multichannel analog cables...you have that, right?
In digital connection format, your DVD-A can play in DD 5.1.
Your Audio specs are as follows:
6 Channel Audio Out
5.1 Channel Output with Bass Management
Super Audio CD Multi-Channel Playback
Dolby® Digital Output
24-Bit/192kHz Audio Digital/Analog Converter
DOLBY® Digital and DTS® Compatible Output
WMA & MP3 Playback1

yep i have all of the proper cables but on the screen (on the menu of the disc) it says "Dolby Digital" as opposed to what it said in my friend's DVDa player which said "High Resolution"

In your DVD player, try disabling "Dolby Digital" and DTS and reload your DVD-A.

there's no option like that
i hope there isn't a problem with the lazer, but that's most likely the case

no
the setup menu consists of this:
Language Setup (seems to have nothing to do with this issue)
Audio Setup (tried everything, nothing works)
Display Setup (tried things here too)
Parental Control (even tried this)
Audio Setup
-------------
Digital Output - Either PCM or Bitstream
DTS - Off or On
Dynamic Compression - Off or On
PCM Down Sampling - Off or On
Speaker Setup (irrelevant)

I have a Toshiba Model 4700 dvd Player and on mine I must select Bitstream 6 ch analog
from the Audio Output menu in order to play DVD-A
If I choose Bitstream I can only get DD Or DTS tracks
Hope this Helps
