The new projector features Texas Instruments' advanced DarkChip3 technology, which projects higher brightness and deeper black levels by "filling in" the area where the digital micro mirror connects to its hinge - producing smooth, film-like picture quality. The H79 offers a proprietary 5x, 8-segment color wheel technology with additional dark segments for near dither-free deep levels of black.

Clint, How do you think the Optoma H79 will compare to the new marantz 4th generation with the dark chip 3 and the new processor. I know there is about $5,000.00 difference between the two. Do you think the picture will be that much better?

The Sim2 HT300E appears to be the first DC3 out of the gate, with products now available from InFocus (SP 7210) and Optoma (H79). Does anyone know of actual installations of these models and their performance?

Are there any other DC3 projectors currently available?
