Yamaha Rxv-2500 Owners ---- Read This

For those of you that are having difficulty with the loudness difference when switching input sources, try adjusting the "VOLUME TRIM" of your receiver. How to do this is described on page 53 of the manual in "advanced operation" section.

Did you also know that you can set the cooling fan to come on only when the unit gets hot - AUTO setting, or to run all the time at various speeds depending on internal temperature by setting it to the CONT. setting??

This can be done in the ADVANCED SET UP MENU described on page 81 of the manual.

Who knew you could learn so much by reading the manual....?!?!??!!

Can we do the same with RX-V1500?
I'm not as famailiar with the 1500's features as I don't own one. You'd think they'd be quite similar though.

I cannot find this option on my 1500. Must be one more slight difference in the two models.
This is certainly not a major problem for me, but wouldn't it be nice if Yamaha, and Denon, Onkyo, and the rest would have some sort of tabular listing on their site with these differences. Granted it makes good conversation here but it would be nice for some one torn between two or three different models from the same maker to have some of the mystery and doubt taken out of the equation.

Not in 1500?

Looks like the 1500 does not have this feature. Guess we could add that to the list of differences between the two models. :)

Try a mixture of red grapes, prune juice, and metamucil {sp}. Put it all in a blender then drink it. Oh yeah, you actually have to turn the blender on for a few seconds.

BTW, I figured out a way to do this on the 1500. It's not volume trim but it works for me. Basically, if you have a programmable remote like Pronto, you can use the yamaha extended IR codes for volume preset memory and recall for each input.

Is it possible to ensure that the front speakers are set to "small" and then run the automatic room calibration feature or does that always assume "large" front speakers unless they are very small?

You either allow it to check if they should be LARGE or SMALL during the auto set up, or set it yourself, and then defeat that feature in the auto set up by unchecking it in the menu.

Did adjusting the TRIM level make a big difference on the 2500? I just found this post today and am having the same problem with the radio for instance being very loud at low volumes but DVD's having to turn the reciever WAY up for equal volume. Unfortunatly I am at work so I'll have to wait until I get home tonight to check it out.

Thanks.

I believe you can adjust it up to + or - 6dB. That would make quite a difference.

Hi folks,
maybe a stupid question, but in the moment I´m not sitting in front of the 2500:
what´s the default setting for the van? auto or continious?
Yesterday I setup this amp and was amazed how hot this machine had become after only a couple hours. I had to enlarge the distance between the receiver and the DVD-Player to protect both by putting some cd cd covers under the DVD feets. :(

What mode is more effective: auto or continious

(With the 2500 I replaced my good old Yamaha DSP-A2 which stays cold in all situations ... )
