View Full Version : Resetting Yamaha rxv 2500 to factory defaults

Something has gone awry with my receiver and I'd like to set it back to factory settings and start over again.
I had a bunch of people (read idiots) here on NY eve, playing with my stuff and now things just don't sound right.
My sub has no volume. At full tilt it sounds like it's putting out less than it used to at half.
-10 dB on the dial now sounds like background music.
When I push multi channel input, I should hear nothing (unless I have an SACD playing) and yet I do.
I've looked in the manual but cannot find out how to do the reset.

And 1 more question.
Out of a 7.1 setup, if I have 6 ohm speakers for my surrounds (the rest are 8 ohm), do I have to change the initial setting from 8 to 6, or just leave it as is?

Ok, i send a mail to Yamaha and i was surprised because of their fast reply.
For everyone who has the same problem you should go to the following site:
http://www.yamaha.com/yec/customer/presets/preset_RX-V1400.pdf

I haven't tried this because i'm at the office right now, i'll tell you tomorrow if it worked.

This is for the 1400. It might be the same.

Leave it set at 8 ohms. There is a post under FAQ on this, and I had started a thread on it you may want to read as well. Do a search under my name and they will both come up. They were within the last 30 days or so.

To reset, do this:

Make sure receiver is in standby mode (power off on front panel)
On front panel, hold down Straight/effect button, then press power
Rotate Program knob to desired setting (RESET)
Press standby/on to save reset

Manual - Page 81.

Thanks very much.
I swear I went through every page of that darned manual.
Seems the logical place would be at the beginnning. LOL

Yes, I did too, had mine set to 6 but after reading your info, i put back to 8. There's a ton of info on the 2500 here, I am a regular reader and so far I love my new toy.
