know the rule of thumb is to use 12 gauge for runs over 50 feet; however, does that apply to rear effect speakers like the 6ohm Axiom Qs8's? I don't want to have to undo all of my speaker wire when I get the Qs8's. They will run 52 feet of wire for each, and I currently have the Monster XP Navajo White 16ga. speaker wire. Will that work for rears, or will I notice a difference buying the Axiom 12 ga. stuff? Thanks.

Kringle,
Man, your name reminds me of a cross between Christmas and Star Wars :D
I have bought over 100 feet of that Axiom cable and it is high quality very finely stranded stuff. A guy can run coathanger wire wrapped in saran wrap and it will work but, It is my understanding the heavier gauge cable should be used for the longer runs. I would never use anything thinner than 12ga. If $$ is of great concern to you about this then parts express.com has some very affordable 12 and 10 gauge cable that you could even terminate yourself since you are good with your hands. ;)

Thanks, I think I'll go for the Axiom stuff. Was it pretty flexible for bending around corners consider it is 12ga? Thanks again WorkerBee.

the Axiom 12 gage has all the stiffness of wet spaghetti. it'll bend anywhere you want it to. it does have a very thick insulating layer, if space in a conduit is a concern...
