I'm quite certain Syd was tripping around that time, in fact I bet they all were, but I think Syd had already left the band by the time Ummagumma was released.

http://pinkfloydhyperbase.dk/albums/umma.htm - mentions Ummagumma might be 60's slang for sex, though with Waters and the boys you never know.

Yes Syd was gone after Floyds first album 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn' after a daily LSD habit made his already existing mental disorder, schizophrenia, worse and he was pretty much forced to leave . Piper at the Gates of Dawn is Floyds best album I think, if your into 60's psychedelic rock....

I think Syd and Lou Reed (Velvet Underground & Nico) must have traveled in some of the same circles about that time......definatley on a "higher" plane.

I've really enjoyed Brain Wilsons album Smile recently. It may be the only newly released CD I've purchased in........quite a while.

Mort (who probably listened to too much Interstellar Overdrive at one time to be able to remember when he bought his last CD) ;)

Pile Driver- Sodomize the Dead, song title
The Mentors- Anal Vapors, album title (okay, that's actually pretty gross. But it makes me snicker).

To be honest, I really liked the CD! :D I don't own it, but a kid who used to work for me brought it to work one day. Pretty funny stuff.

Journey (their first album)
The first Journey is pre Steve Perry and not many Journey fans seem to even know about it. I bought it because I like the song 'Of A Lifetime' and was pleasantly suprised that most of the other songs are pretty good too.

Wasn't Steve Rollie their original singer? I recall that Robert Fleischman, who went on to sing on some notable heavy metal discs, also was in the band briefly before Perry.

#1 favorite album title of all time

I've never heard the album but I just love the title (and, if I remember right, the cover art was almost as funny):
"You broke my heart, so I busted your jaw" by Spooky Tooth

GREG Rolie was the original singer and original keyboardist. He was the same singer who sang Santana's Black Magic Woman. I don't recall a Robert Fleischman being in the band, maybe before they got a recording contract. There was a George Tickner who played rhythm guitar, but he quietly faded sometime after the first album.
