DV-578; what to do now?

hey, i just purchased a Pioneer DV-578 player. for the price, i couldnt beat the fact that it plays just about everything.
anyway, now for the question. anyone have a setting suggestions? anything i should do to optimize the setup? i still have yet to buy the Avia disc, but that should come soon after i recieve my new reciever (yamaha htr-5560). any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am glad someone bought this model. I am about to purchase this model but I need to make sure that this particular model handles multi region DVD's as I need to play some European stuff.

Can you verify this for me please?

unfortunately, all i own for dvds are either region 1 or all region. sorry.

Yes I understand but can you check your manual and verify if the unit is code free.

both my manual and my player itself (on the back) list it as a region 1 player
