Hi, i found this morning that my receiver is acting funny. I remember that my old Onkyo receiver had the same problem and it was corrected by resetting it, so, how do i reset my Yamaha RXV1400?. I called service but they want me to send my receiver to them and i don't want to. I read the manual but says nothing about resetting it.

Hi, i found this morning that my receiver is acting funny.

Can you be more specific? Was it doing stand-up comedy, playing God Bless America with it's armpits, or just making funny faces and sending nasty messages via it's LCD screen?

Have you tried going through a manual set-up procedure? I mean everything, all links, all speakers, all levels etc..

I think if my old Onkyo was next to the Yammie it would be like the show of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.

I think it has to be the processor; the receiver is not working properly, it can't recognize some surround formats (DTS and the internal DSP'S) initially, but it does it after a while. When i hear music trough a digital connection, every time at the beginning of a CD, it misses like the first half second of the first track. When i repeat it, it doesn't happen again until i change the CD.

The most noticeable faliure is that "optimizer" appears on the display when i'm using the graphic equalizer and it shouldn't do that. It should appear only if i have engaged the parametric equalizer.

I read the manual like a dozen times and it says nothing about how to "re-initialize" the receiver.

Having the same problem with my RX-V1400. When I choose GEQ, it should turn the optimizer off. And, when I choose PEQ, it should turn it on. It remains on either way! The manual states it will reset itself if unplugged for a week. So, it looks like you and I will be without tunes for a week.

I don't know about the being off for a week. Sounds like some Hoodoo to me. Check out page 57 of the manual Param.ini (adobe page 61 if you downloaded it) "parameter initialization" & make sure memory guard is not on.

I guess the no brainer approach could be tried if all else fails. However unplug and leave that way for at least a week, as simply powering off won't re-set (it does re-set after being disconnected from power source for a week).

Ok, i send a mail to Yamaha and i was surprised because of their fast reply.
For everyone who has the same problem you should go to the following site:
http://www.yamaha.com/yec/customer/presets/preset_RX-V1400.pdf

I haven't tried this because i'm at the office right now, i'll tell you tomorrow if it worked.

Ok, it worked. My receiver is now working normally.

Yes, definitely, thanks. I presume the same procedure will work for the 1500 as well.
Might be handy for when after experimenting with every feature mine becomes completely FUBAR.
