Hi Im new to home theater world looking for some help. Looking to install home theater in new house, room is large 24' x 22' two story so I figure 7.1 is the way to go. I was originally going to purchase Bose v20, I know its a 5.1, but through some research I come to find this might not be the best way to go. Ive been looking at the Onkyo HT-S6200 but the speakers are to large, looking for built in? What do you think Onkyo HT-S6200 with say some Polk built in speakers. Budget isnt to high say around $2,000 for complete system. Any help would be appreciated:)

Complete system including the display or just for the audio? Bose would be a poor choice.

Robert's you father's brother :D
Yep, smaller speakers aren't really going to cut it in a 2 story room that size, nor is a lower end of the spectrum receiver.

Always get more than you think you actually need. It saves on having to do it over a 2nd time.
Make sure you get a receiver that has all the bells & whistles you want it to have & make sure it has preouts for adding separate additional amplification later on down the line. (Sounds like you will need it for such a large room.)
I'm partial to Polk speakers since they comprise the majority of the speakers in my setup. My oldest pair are my mains closing in on 20 yrs of service. So if I was going for inwalls, I would look there first.
Good luck.:)

Thanks for everyones suggestions. Think I got a better handle on what I need. Glad I didnt go out and buy that Bose system.
Think I might start off with a Onkyo HT-S7200 or HT-S9100THX. As for speakers I looked a little closer at the installation and found that in wall might not be the best way to go because of the TV mounting and stud locations.
So now I need to find a decent group of speakers that are in my low budget ($1500) or deal with the standard speakers until my budget increases:confused:

www.svsound.com has the SCS-01 packages with very nice subs that will fit in your budget. The SCS speakers are the larger ones (centers) that will give you a bit more output from the mains, the surrounds can be the SBS-01s for surround duty.
Note: in a room like that, bass will likely be an issue, so you are going to need a decent sub also, so take a good look at the sub offerings from these guys.
