I recently purchased a new amp and was wondering about the quality of rca's to use for the preouts. Would this be okay http://www.crutchfield.ca/Phoenix_Gold_ARx510_1_Metre_Audio_Interconnect_p/218arx510.htm
or should I go for higher quality?

Those will work, that is for sure. It is hard to say if they are good quality by looking at a picture of them though. Phoenix Gold cables are pretty basic. Just watch out that the price of shipping isn't more than the cables themselves.

You can also try www.monoprice.com

The Crutchfield are okay, but Monoprice has very good quality at a lower price and BlueJeans Cable excellent quality for about $30.

Monoprice:

Blue Jeans Cables for even higher quality.

Ordering from Canada the Monoprice http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021803&p_id=2869&seq=1&format=2 would be cheaper than the ones from Crutchfield. Price is a difference(about half), but would I notice a difference in quality of sound?

I personally buy all my cables and connectors from Monoprice and I am very, very pleased with their customer service, quality and price.

With RCA cables you will not notice that much difference between vendors; difference usually in looks, cable sheathing or quality of end connections. HDMI cables and video cables is where you sometimes see differences.

Haivng said that buy good cables, such as Monoprice, but not expensive ones and you will be fine :) .

In the past, I have done business with Crutchfield, mainly car stereo when cars came with crappy radios, and their quality and customer service is good but their prices are no bargain.

Later,

NJ

P.S.- Monoprice makes some great locking banana plugs; my recommended way ( and many others ;) ) to connect speakers to the AVR.

Hope this helps
