Hi,

Somewhere I thought I had seen someone that upgrades Denon, and maybe other DVD players to play all Region dvd's, and also NTSC, PAL discs. Is this true?
I am interested in the 2910, not sure whether to buy yet cause new stuff will be out soon, right??

Thx,

Mike

This site sells DVD players that are modified to play all regions:

http://www.barrel-of-monkeys.com/

Apparently, you must also have a TV that will accept the PAL signal. the DVD players listed on the above site modify the DVD player with a converter that handles that for you and keeps you from having to buy an additional converter for your TV.

They also have a lot of information on region specific conversion in general.

BTW, I haven't used the site, am just in the market for a region free DVD player becasue my German wife wants to play european DVDs on our American TV.

Let me know if they are helpful.

The Cambridge Azur 540D is one you might take a look at. It does a great job with PAL>NTSC conversion, is region free out of the box and is also an excellent sounding audio(CD and DVD-A) player as well. The build quality and look of the player is more akin to players in the $800-1000 and up range. Lists for around $380USD. Blew away the Momitsu I used for this purpose previously.

Thanks for the replies, but I do want to go with the Denon, and do not want to pay an extra two to three hundred that some of those sites want to upgrade.
I did however find the link below that is very interesting indeed!
