Wow! I hate this but I am going to have to spend a few bucks on a stop-gap speaker system! I have recently purchased a JVC 47" Hdtv, a Sony BR player, and a pioneer elite 03 receiver. My next move was to outfit with Paradigm Millenia series speakers. Due to budget, layoff and econocrap stuff, I now have a great system with 3 cheap Wal-Mart speakers! I still have a few bucks in the old shoe box and it looks like a $2000.00+ system is years away, I am going to buy a Fluance 5 way to get me through. I figure $199.00 is worth it for a temp system paired with a decent receiver and a great Velo sub that I already own.

Layoffs suck! I would look for something used and spend it all on mains.
Actually, I would probably hold off until you have a new job, which is hopefully soon. Good luck.

Agreed. Layoffs suck.
If you're going to spend $200, you are better off just getting two good used speakers for now. Quality over quantity.
