onk 876 audyssey set up error... left rear speaker

i am having problems using audyssey set up... i am using 5.1 surround with a powered sub. when it gets to my left rear surround it says error speaker not detected, but when i play all ch stereo sound can be heard fine from the same speaker. ive tried swapping speakers with one that tests fine and i get the same error...

For 5.1 , the surrounds are connected to the Surround L/RNOT the Surround Back L/R. The backs are used for 7.1 setups.

yep... i think i must have fingered this out as you were typing your response... lol

i played a dvd cleaner disk that does a 5.1 sound check and i wasnt hearing anything out of the surrounds so i consulted the manual...
