1080p has been around for about 4 years. 1080p at 24fps has appeared more recently.

HD DVD was the first (April 2006) source to deliver 1080p at 24fps.

Pioneer Elite's PRO-FHD1 was the first (June 2006) plasma flat panel to ship 1080p at 72Hz.
