No sound from HDMI connection.

I purchased a Sharp LCD 20 inch set. After hooking up my cable box to the TV via HDMI cable, no sound was evident. I had to hook composite audio cables to on=btain sound. I thought that HDMI cable would also transmitt sound. AM I wrong?

HDMI cables can indeed transfer audio and video.

You may just need to set up the cable box to output audio through the HDMI port. Perhaps you also need to set the output from bitstream to PCM (or vice versa).
